[[OIcel declension]]
# OIcel feminine root nouns

A small class of OIcel feminine nouns do not fall into either the strong (vowel stem) or the weak (consonant stem) categories.
The so called feminine **root nouns** follow the following paradigm

| case | sg.fem | pl.fem |
| ---- | ---------------------------- | ---------------------------- |
| nom | <em class="ling">bók-∅</em> | <em class="ling">bœk-r⁺</em> |
| gen | <em class="ling">bók-ar</em> | <em class="ling">bók-a</em> |
| dat | <em class="ling">bók-∅</em> | <em class="ling">bók-um</em> |
| acc | <em class="ling">bók-∅</em> | <em class="ling">bœk-r⁺</em> |

In the singular the declension mirrors [[OIcel ō-stems]], in the plural [[OIcel i-umlaut|OIcel morphophonoligcal i-umlaut]] is exibited.
Some nouns take the i-umlauting ending <em class="ling">-r⁺</em> for the gen.sg too.
